{"id":51,"date":"2019-04-30T10:26:13","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T14:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.une.edu\/frederichlab\/?page_id=51"},"modified":"2021-09-22T13:45:38","modified_gmt":"2021-09-22T17:45:38","slug":"flowcam","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/frederichlab\/current-research\/flowcam\/","title":{"rendered":"FlowCam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Funded through an instrumentation grant form the National Science Foundation, NSF, we bought a FlowCam for fluid particle analysis in research and teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.une.edu\/news\/2016\/semi-automated-microscope-will-take-une-research-next-level\">https:\/\/www.une.edu\/news\/2016\/semi-automated-microscope-will-take-une-research-next-level<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are currently using a FlowCam in student-led projects to create a library of phytoplankton in Biddeford Pool in Maine. Utilizing the FlowCam instead of a standard microscope, allows for faster species identification to investigate the seasonal changes amongst the species. We also analyze the samples to identify what conditions control the population of phytoplankton at different tidal stages.
