{"id":161,"date":"2020-04-15T11:56:24","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T15:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/gwep\/?page_id=161"},"modified":"2024-03-20T00:35:18","modified_gmt":"2024-03-20T04:35:18","slug":"for-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/gwep\/for-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interdisciplinary Opportunities for Students Interested in Working with Older Adults:<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">University of Maine Interprofessional Graduate Certificate in Gerontology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The online <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/gwep\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2021\/08\/Grad_Cert_Gerontology.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Interprofessional Graduate Certificate Program in Gerontology<\/a> is designed to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of health and human service professionals who provide care to older adults in a variety of settings.<br>The goals of the UMaine Interprofessional Graduate Certificate Program in Gerontology are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strengthen the knowledge, skills, and abilities of health and human service professionals for the provision of effective, comprehensive care and services for older adults and their caregivers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase the number of individuals who select a career in the health and human service fields with specialization in the delivery of services for older adults.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare professionals from a variety of fields to function as members of interprofessional teams in the provision of services that enhance the lives of older adults and those who care for them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS<\/strong> (9 credits)<br>Course sequence: It is preferred that the Gerontology Certificate students take courses in sequence (GRN 500, GRN 501, GRN 502); however, this is not mandatory.<br>1. GRN 500: Opportunities and Challenges of Aging (3 credits) (offered fall)<br>2. GRN 501: Life Transitions and Health in Aging (3 credits) (offered spring)<br>3.
