{"id":277,"date":"2022-05-26T09:47:04","date_gmt":"2022-05-26T13:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/maineahec\/?p=277"},"modified":"2022-05-26T09:57:09","modified_gmt":"2022-05-26T13:57:09","slug":"maine-ahec-graduates-largest-class-of-ahec-scholars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/maineahec\/2022\/05\/26\/maine-ahec-graduates-largest-class-of-ahec-scholars\/","title":{"rendered":"Maine AHEC Graduates Largest Class of AHEC Scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Maine AHEC has graduated its third class of AHEC Scholars.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our largest class of graduates yet, more than sixty-three health professions students graduated from the AHEC Scholar program and will be recognized as graduating with an honors distinction in caring for the underserved.&nbsp;&nbsp;Each student received a blue, white, and green cord to wear at graduation to acknowledge their completion of the two-year 160-hour AHEC Scholar curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The graduates will become AHEC Scholar alumnae and join a distinguished group of health professionals who are graduating from around the country.&nbsp;&nbsp;Each of the 46 AHECs around the country will graduate a cohort of AHEC Scholars this spring.&nbsp;&nbsp;An estimated 2,300 health professions students will be graduating the AHEC Scholars program and will enter the workforce with an enhanced skill set to care for underserved populations.&nbsp;&nbsp;The intention is that many of these students will seek employment in underserved communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the Maine AHEC Scholars from medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy will be entering residency before securing employment.&nbsp;&nbsp;Some graduates will secure or have already secured employment such as Katelyn Asmus, MSOT \u201922, who shared \u201cThank you for all the support throughout my time in Maine AHEC!&nbsp;&nbsp;I am in the process of being hired in a rural, underserved school district, and my experience and training has absolutely helped me get here!\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on the Maine AHEC Scholar program:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.une.edu\/ahec\/cup-scholars\">https:\/\/www.une.edu\/ahec\/cup-scholars<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on the national AHEC Scholars program:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalahec.org\/general\/custom.asp?page=AHECScholars\">https:\/\/www.nationalahec.org\/general\/custom.asp?page=AHECScholars<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maine AHEC has graduated its third class of AHEC Scholars.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our largest class of graduates yet, more &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":37,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"post_folder":[],"class_list":["post-277","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
