Journals encourage reviewers to \u2018plainly state\u2019 their opinion of a manuscript, and reviews of manuscripts and grants land in authors\u2019 inboxes unfiltered and unedited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, some reviews are more hostile than others.
