The journal publishes cases and expert commentary, medical education articles, policy discussions, peer-reviewed articles for journal-based and audio continuing education, visuals, and more. Since its inception as an editorially-independent journal, we promote ethics inquiry as a public good. All content is free (no fees to read, listen, or contribute) for all (no subscription or publication fees) and available to everyone in perpetuity. Numerous publicity efforts reiterate the importance of contributors\u2019 content, long after publication. The journal averages more than 350,000 visits per month from across the world and content can be searched by ACGME core competency area, clinical specialty, article type, or by topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Editorial Fellows and Senior Editorial Fellows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>US medical students, resident physicians or fellows are selected annually by a competitive process to become&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/journalofethics.ama-assn.org\/editorial-fellows\"><strong>Editorial Fellows<\/strong><\/a>. Those interested in working with us as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/journalofethics.ama-assn.org\/senior-editorial-fellow\"><strong>Senior Editorial Fellows<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;are invited to send us a proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manuscript Submission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to solicited articles for monthly themes issues, the&nbsp;<em>AMA Journal of Ethics<\/em>&nbsp;accepts unsolicited manuscripts for peer review consideration through our online manuscript submission and review system.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amajournalofethics.msubmit.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Submit a manuscript<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Editorial Independence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Published by the American Medical Association, the&nbsp;<em>AMA Journal of Ethics<\/em>&nbsp;maintains&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/wame.org\/editorial-independence\">editorial independence<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;as defined by the World Association of Medical Editors. This means that the journal&#8217;s editor in chief has full authority over its content. In support of the journal&#8217;s editorial independence, the&nbsp;<em>AMA Journal of Ethics&#8217;&nbsp;<\/em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/joe-prod.ama-assn.org\/editorial-board-and-staff\">editorial board members<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;are recognized leaders in medical education, law and medicine, philosophy and ethics, and ethics policy making at the national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We\u2019re Glad You Asked!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<em>AMA Journal of Ethics<\/em>, the AMA\u00a0<em>Code of Medical Ethics<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>JAMA Network<\/em>\u00a0journals are all published by the AMA. Key distinctions among these three intellectual assets of the AMA are the following: the\u00a0<em>AMA Journal of Ethics<\/em>\u00a0is not a\u00a0<em>JAMA Network\u00a0<\/em>journal and the AMA\u00a0<em>Code of Medical Ethics<\/em>\u00a0is AMA policy.
