{"id":6336,"date":"2022-02-16T10:10:44","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T15:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/research\/?p=6336"},"modified":"2022-02-16T10:10:44","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T15:10:44","slug":"nih-seminar-series-the-mental-health-and-well-being-of-biomedical-researchers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.une.edu\/research\/nih-seminar-series-the-mental-health-and-well-being-of-biomedical-researchers\/","title":{"rendered":"NIH SEMINAR SERIES: THE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF BIOMEDICAL RESEARCHERS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"explore-the-critical-issue-of-mental-health-in-the-biomedical-research-community\">EXPLORE THE CRITICAL ISSUE OF MENTAL HEALTH IN THE BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH COMMUNITY.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>Why?<\/strong>&nbsp;Biomedical trainees (1) and researchers (2) report anxiety and depression at rates far greater than the general population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Goal:<\/strong>&nbsp;Increase awareness and provide coping strategies and tools to help participants support their own mental health and that of others<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For whom?<\/strong>&nbsp;Trainees at all levels, PIs and other researchers, administrators, and faculty both at the NIH and in the extramural community<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How?&nbsp;<\/strong>Address a new mental health issue that affects biomedical researchers each month through<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An opening webinar<\/li><li>Q&amp;A and small-group discussions facilitated by experienced mental health practitioners<\/li><li>In-depth strategy development and skills practice, e.g., perfection management, executive functioning, mindfulness<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp;Information on the discussion and skills-based groups will be provided to those who attend the monthly webinars in follow-up emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tentative-schedule\"><br>&nbsp;TENTATIVE SCHEDULE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br>Sign language interpreting services and live captioning will be provided for this event.&nbsp;Individuals who need other reasonable accommodations to participate in this event, or would like a sign language interpreter for the small group should contact Jackie Newell (<\/em><a href=\"mailto:newellj@nih.gov\"><em>newellj@nih.gov<\/em><\/a><em>) or the Federal Relay Service @&nbsp;800-877-8339.
