Our application portal just opened, and we are looking for students for Summer 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of your strong connection with undergraduate students, I hope you will help publicize this message to students to participate in the <strong>NSF-DoD REU Site: Advanced Technologies for Hypersonic, Propulsive, Energetic, and Reusable Platforms (HYPER) at the University of Central Florida (UCF)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HYPER addresses challenges in aerospace travel and energy production, advancing the fundamental knowledge needed to overcome technical barriers limiting hypersonic flight. The 10-week program will be held this summer from May 21<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 July 29<sup>th<\/sup>, 2023. Participants will gain hands-on research training in challenges such as: utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques for high-value components, integrating in-site monitoring of stress-strain evolution, developing novel methods for improved internal cooling and heat transfer effectiveness, and mitigating flutter through advanced rotor dynamic control. Many of these challenges rely on approaches that cut across disciplines and research techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are actively recruiting a diverse group of participants from a variety of universities. These students will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Conduct hands-on research guided directly by a faculty mentor and their graduate student(s)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Interact with a diverse multidisciplinary team of researchers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Visit the NASA Kennedy Space Center and various aerospace companies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Participate in professional development workshops<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Gain in-depth training on numerical simulation software ANSYS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Prepare for graduate school and a research-based career<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Engage with other <a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Facademicsuccess.ucf.edu%2Freu%2F&amp;data=05%7C01%7CAli.Gordon%40ucf.edu%7Cab042b492ac1447f76bf08db19dd11d6%7Cbb932f15ef3842ba91fcf3c59d5dd1f1%7C0%7C0%7C638132209505630207%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=oiooOL%2FqkD4A2Y0zrvlO7hkrRxFgNpLb5E1y7dPcZjg%3D&amp;reserved=0\">REU groups<\/a> located at UCF<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each HYPER REU participant will receive a summer stipend of <strong>$6,000<\/strong>, on-campus housing, and a travel allowance to and from Orlando, Florida.
