Everyone is welcome, and here are those details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oct. 3 Screening of the film&nbsp;<em>Ring of Bright Water&nbsp;<\/em>(1969)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FMI&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ring_of_Bright_Water_(film)\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ring_of_Bright_Water_(film)<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marcil 216 5-6:30 pm&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oct. 10 Lecture and discussion of&nbsp;<em>Ring of Bright Water<\/em>&nbsp;by Prof. Karen Lykke, Centre for Sustainability and Development, University of Oslo, Norway&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FMI&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sum.uio.no\/english\/people\/aca\/karenvs\/index.html\">https:\/\/www.sum.uio.no\/english\/people\/aca\/karenvs\/index.html<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Francis Room of the Ketchum Library 5-6:30 pm &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More info: Based on Gavin Maxwell&#8217;s memoir of the same name,&nbsp;<em>Ring of Bright Water&nbsp;<\/em>is a 1969 feature-length film that gained notoriety at the time for bringing back together the stars of the blockbuster film&nbsp;<em>Born Free<\/em>. But its direction by a Disney True-Life Nature Films master arguably makes&nbsp;<em>Ring of Bright Water<\/em>&nbsp;most memorable for its lush cinematography featuring open Scottish land- and seascapes. As Prof. Karen Lykke, PhD, of Norway\u2019s University of Oslo will explain, the film is also credited with having galvanized the environmental movement in the UK.
