Student Employment – Finding a Job on Campus

One task that is often a focus for our students as they start their fall semester is finding work on campus as many will want to earn some money. UNE students are provided with access to the Handshake platform through which they can search for and apply for jobs. Students can access this platform through their UNE Compass log-in (note: see the Pro Tip below for information on UNE Compass).

Students who receive Federal Work Study dollars as part of their financial aid package, are encouraged to follow the steps as outlined on the following webpage: https://www.une.edu/sfs/undergraduate/financing-your-education/federal-work-study-program.  In addition to learning how to create a Handshake account, this page also provides many tips for finding non-work study positions on and off campus.

The forms that students need to complete must be submitted to the Student Financial Services (SFS) office before their employment begins. To best help your student, you may want to remind them to have their legal ID on hand the day they go to SFS to complete their paperwork. If you are also the parent or guardian of a returning student who has worked within the last 12 months on campus, know that their forms are kept on file, and they’ll be able to commence work with fewer steps than their sibling.

IF you have any questions about how the work study program works, please do not hesitate to reach out by sending a message to the following email address: workstudy@une.edu. Financial questions can similarly be addressed via email to sfs@une.edu. Please keep in mind that federal regulation requires your student to sign a FERPA release form before our offices can discuss any student-specific details with you.

Pro Tip: UNE Compass is your student’s one-stop-shop for course registration, the viewing of grades, to accept financial aid, and among other tasks, to schedule advising appointments. Students can access UNE Compass by visiting compass.une.edu.
