The Maine Ideas Fund was originally developed as an innovation challenge, run by the College of Business. Over the course of the pandemic, UNE piloted different approaches to the competition. Last year, the Office of Innovation individually mentored students with ideas, resulted in the 2023 winner of the statewide Greenlight Collegiate Challenge. In 2023-24, UNE is piloting a Fund that encourages low-stakes participation and provides mentoring and support to student changemakers. This initiative is co-sponsored by the College of Business, Student Affairs, the Office of Sustainability and the Office of Innovation.
