UNE North Advisor Annie Tselikis has partnered with Washington County Community College and the Sunrise County Economic Council to develop a free, ten-week course that will provide an overview of the lobster supply chain. The initiative is intended to help people understand the diversity of career opportunities in the lobster industry. Tselikis, executive director of the Maine Lobster Dealers’ Association, is a tireless advocate for the industry, as well as for the need to develop new pipelines of talented Mainers to enter its workforce.
“People think that the lobster industry is just lobstering,” says Tselikis, . ”But to get a lobster from Stonington to Singapore takes people with various talents. People don’t understand there are a lot of jobs and responsibility in handling that product in that supply chain.”
