Student Research Presentation at ACCP By Dr. S. Nichols
In November 2023, Skyler Evans (UNE Pharm.D. Candidate Class of 2026) presented a research in progress poster at the American College of Clinical Pharmacists meeting in Dallas Texas. Her project, “The Prevalence of Progestin Use in People Who Develop Postpartum Psychosis”, evaluates use of progestin in people who have developed postpartum psychosis versus prevalence in matched postpartum control patients. Skyler began this work with Stephanie Nichols, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, BCPP, FCCP during the Summer of 2023 via the Dean’s Summer Fellowship program. Skyler was awarded a small stipend to develop her research question and proposal, obtain IRB clearance, complete chart reviews for data collection, analyze her findings, and submit her work for peer review and dissemination of findings. Other members on various aspects of this project team include: Evan Williams (UNE Pharm.D. Candidate Class of 2026), Cassidy Grass (UNE Pharm.D. Candidate Class of 2025), Nicolette Centanni, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP, BCGP, and Leora Rabin, MD. Working with Dr. Nichols allows students like Skyler, the ability to engage in a research project that was meaningful to her while also enhancing her research skills.
