Student publishes in The Senior Care Pharmacist by Dr. S Springer

Dr. Joshua Carver (UNE Pharm.D. Class of 2023) learned his work would be published in The Senior Care Pharmacist, a well-known geriatric pharmacist journal. His paper, titled “Patient Attitudes Towards Deprescribing Among Community Dwelling Older Mainers” touches upon the complexity of medication management in older adults living in the community. Josh began his work with Dr. Sydney Springer during the Summer of 2021, when he applied for the Dean’s Summer Fellowship. Josh was awarded a small stipend to work throughout the summer and into the school year to complete his research, submit his work to local and national conference, and print his accepted posters. Josh has also presented his work at the largest Pharmacy conference in the U.S: the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Midyear Clinical Meeting. Josh is working on publishing a second paper with Dr. Springer, now as a resident at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Working with Dr. Springer as a student allowed him to improve his research and critical thinking skills while continuing his pharmacy education.
