The purpose of the Maine AHEC Annual Evaluation Report report is to provide an overview to funders and collaborators of Maine AHEC’s statewide evaluation results in FY2024, including quality improvement, outcome measurement and impact tracking, as well as to describe any changes to programming and future evaluation activities for FY2025.
Highlights from this year’s report include:
- Pathways (High School) participants in multi-day career exploration programs across the state report increased knowledge about and intention to pursue healthcare careers;
- Health Professionals participating in the Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center (MHLIC) Continuing Education event reported increased interest in maternal health (98% ‘agree’) and plans to apply skills learned from the workshop (97% ‘agree’);
- Health Professions students participating in the Reproductive Health Leadership Training identified actions to implement in practice including improved communication for talking to patients about reproductive health and leadership skills to improve future advocacy efforts;
- Caring for the Underserved Pathway (CUP) AHEC Scholars graduates surveyed to date across 8+ professions (N=115) report statistically significant increased knowledge in the HRSA core topic areas of interprofessional education, cultural responsiveness, social determinants of health, behavioral health integration and practice transformation; and,
- Among CUP AHEC Scholars successfully tracked at one year post-graduation (N=109/130 or 84%), 1 out of 4 were working in a medically underserved community; 1 out of 5 in a primary care setting and just over 1 out of 5 (22%) practicing in Maine.
