The Burkholder lab studies the biology of bacterial pathogens and the food safety of marine products. We are fascinated by how pathogens interact with their environments and hosts, and we use microbiology, cell and molecular biology, and microscopy tools to study these processes. In addition, we work closely with our marine science colleagues to study factors that influence microbiological safety of marine foods.
