Read more about Western AHEC’s most recent Rural Health Immersion (RHI) below!
The Rural Health Immersion is an opportunity for AHEC Scholars to experience healthcare within a rural Maine setting. They spend several days in rural Maine with the Center Director, experiencing many of the opportunities the area has to offer. During this Rural Health Immersion eight AHEC Scholars visited Franklin and Kennebec Counties.
The students had some amazing experiences while on their RHI. They hiked Tumbledown Mountain, had a clinical day at Franklin Memorial Hospital, and even joined Jobs for Maine Grads at their career day at KVCC in Fairfield.
So what Maine Towns do students actually visit on their trips during Rural Health Immersions? For the Western Maine RHI Trips, they have experienced over 30 Western Maine Towns:
Farmington, Weld, New Sharon, Dryden, Industry, Anson, Rangeley, Oquoassoc, Phillips, Strong, Avon, Wilton, Belgrade, Belgrade Lakes, Rome, Madison, Skowhegan, Norridgewock, Canaan, Fairfield, Oakland, Sydney, Mercer, Augusta, Madrid, East Wilton, Livermore Falls, Jay, Hartland, and Waterville.
