This past October, one of our very own CUP AHEC Scholars had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2023 Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC) in Providence, Rhode Island. Morganne Robinson, a current 4th year medical student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, submitted her AHEC capstone poster project and was asked to present at the three-day conference among other medical students from around the country.
The AHEC capstone project, also known as the Maine AHEC Health Equity Practicum, offers Scholars the chance to gain practical experience in their fields within an underserved area of Maine. At the 2023 FMEC, Robinson presented her poster titled, “The Epidemic of Substance Use Disorder in Penobscot County, Maine,” and was able to speak with many great physicians about the work she’s done. It is an honor to be accepted as a presenter and it is wonderful to see representation of rural Maine public health at such a great conference. Congrats, Morganne!
