Your student’s advising journey starts before they arrive

Before the first semester even begins, students are connected with a dedicated academic and career advisor who will support them throughout their undergraduate experience. Advisors work one-on-one with students to build a personalized schedule that reflects their major requirements, career interests, and individual needs. These early conversations lay the groundwork for ongoing discussions about academic planning, career exploration, and the wide range of resources available across campus.

A few things to know:

  • Advising begins this summer. Students will connect with their advisor over the summer to build a first-year schedule tailored to their major and goals, helping them arrive on campus feeling prepared and confident. Advising information can also be found here.
  • Transfer students receive specialized support. Transfer advisors review prior college credits alongside UNE degree requirements and help students identify the most efficient path forward in their intended major. To ensure the most accurate schedule, transcripts from all prior coursework should be submitted to the Office of Admissions as early as possible. More details can be found here.
  • Students are encouraged to stay in touch. Whether they have a quick question or are navigating a larger challenge, advisors are there to help. Strong advising relationships are built through regular communication, especially during times of uncertainty.
  • Advising goes beyond course selection. From exploring majors and careers to navigating academic concerns and connecting with campus resources, advisors are invested in your student’s overall success at UNE.

We look forward to partnering with you and your student this year!
