Welcome!

The Perlut Lab explores how human habitat management effects the ecology and evolution of diverse species and diverse habitats. We mostly study birds, but some mammals too.

We use mind blowing technology: 1) tiny tracking devices that allow us to follow animals around the world, 2) genetic techniques that allow us to understand their deepest darkest secrets, and 3) GIS and modeling techniques that let us make sense of things.

We love to collaborate with amazing people.

We integrate students at all levels from project design to data collection to publication.

We believe in working hard and playing hard.
