Food For Thought Recap

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and the Sustainability Office collaborated on our first “Food For Thought” conversation series today! This pilot project originated from our EHS and Sustainability experts’ desire to be more accessible to all students, faculty, and staff – not just those that we regularly engage. We want to share all of the resources we have to offer and share with our UNE community.

We enjoyed the company of four participants who were interested in the topic of the month: Green Office certification. Representatives from UNE North, Student Engagement, Student Advising, and Institutional Advancement participated in the conversation and enjoyed lunch with us. We answered questions about engaging student workers in proper recycling methods, how to define an “office”, how to reduce printing when providing feedback to students on written work, and different strategies for saving electricity.

The format is designed to be somewhat informal and relaxed. Participants gather at 11:30 am in Commons 320 for a 15-20 minute presentation, followed by 10-15 minutes of discussion. The first ten participants to join us that morning can go through the lunch line and get a free lunch at noon. We hope participants will come back to the conference room to join us for continued conversation.

For more information about upcoming conversations, please visit the Food For Thought tab at The Environmental Advisor blog site. The next topic will be about alternative transportation on Wednesday, September 6 on the third floor of the Ripich Commons. We look forward to you joining us!
