Green crabs are one of the most successful invasive species world-wide. We are applying physiological methods and molecular biology to understand how the stress tolerance in the species changes throughout the molt cycle when the ventral carapace color turns from bright green to dark red.
We also compare green crabs from different populations (Iceland, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Maine), to understand how these genetically distinct populations vary in their physiology.
Some of our work was covered in the New York Times. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/25/us/canadian-green-crabs-migration.html
