Kiernan Gordon, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Sport & Recreation Management, was invited by the international architecture firm, Perkins Eastman, to participate in an initiative to explore the future of sport. The biological risk associated with playing, delivering, and watching sports as a consequence of COVID-19 is formidable. Consequently, Perkins Eastman organized a group of thought leaders to consider the future of sport from the perspective of experts who are leaders in their fields: sport architecture, planning, academia, athletic administration, and environmental behaviorism.
Dr. Gordon’s research examines the role that emotion plays in sport spectators’ consumption of sport venues and related products. His work contributes to sport venue design and management, fan behavior, sport tourism, and the influence of security protocol and related technologies on the sport consumer experience. He has served as a guest speaker at a variety of institutions, including Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, and was recently named a Research Fellow by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security.
