BioME Scholarship Program: awards & grants for life science majors applications are now open

Funded by Bioscience Association of Maine, a non-profit life science industry group devoted to advancing bioscience in Maine, the BioME Scholarship Program offers an opportunity for recent high school graduates, undergraduate and graduate students in the field of bioscience to realize and accomplish their academic goals. This program was designed to help advance Maine students’ academic and professional careers in the field of bioscience, as well as enhance workforce development within Maine’s life sciences industry.

Applicants have the opportunity to receive a BioME Academic Scholarship ($4,000), BioME Summer Internship Award ($4,000), BioME Seed Grant (up to $5,000), or BioME Travel/Conference Award (up to $2,000). This program is available for Maine residents or students enrolled in Maine academic institutions only.

BioME Academic Scholarship

Application Period: February 1, 2022 – March 25, 2022

A highly trained workforce is a critical component for the development and advancement in the life science community in Maine. We want to further support scientific achievement by helping students who are interested in developing a career within the life sciences. Starting in 2021, Bioscience Association of Maine will be funding $4,000 Academic Scholarships to undergraduate students majoring in the field of life sciences.

BioME Summer Internship Award

Application Period: February 1, 2022 – March 18, 2022

The BioME Summer Internship Award provides funding to college undergraduates and grad students who are interning at an unpaid or minimally funded internship in the field of life sciences with a Maine employer. Bioscience Association of Maine will be funding $4,000 Summer Internship Awards to cover costs associated with internship and additional room and board.

BioME Seed Grant

Application rolling and reviewed on a quarterly basis

Seed grants play a critical role in accelerating novel ideas and training the future workforce. BioME Seed Grants were developed to enable Maine graduate and undergraduate students to conduct independent research projects in the field of life sciences. Bioscience Association of Maine will be funding up to $5,000 Seed Grants to cover costs associated with research-related expenses.

Application

BioME Travel/Conference Grant

Applications rolling and reviewed on a quarterly basis. Apply up to 90 days before or after attending the event.

The BioME Travel/Conference grant provides support to students who have had their research accepted for presentation at a professional life sciences conference. Bioscience Association of Maine accepts requests for funding of up to $2,000 to help cover costs associated with attendance. Applications will be accepted for up to 90 days before or after the event.
