Dr. Kiernan Gordon, Associate Professor of Sport Leadership and Management within the College of Business, recently delivered two presentations at the annual meeting for the North American Society for Sport Management in San Diego, CA. He delivered a solo-authored project entitled, “The geosemiotics of sport stadium tourism: Major League Baseball’s delivery of a ‘Tribute to the Negro Leagues’ at Rickwood Field as indexical back-formation”. Gordon also delivered a presentation with two collaborators, Dr. Brian Menaker, from Texas A&M University – Kingsville, and Dr. Gidon Jakar, from University of Florida, which is entitled, “From safe spaces to safe sport places: Establishing the theoretical foundation for a safe venues theory.”
