CAIEP Highlights

UNE’s Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice (CAIEP) presented UNE’s Interprofessional Simulation Project (ISP) Team with an interprofessional service award named for Dr. M. Lisa Pagnucco during the Spring Interprofessional Showcase event April 30, 2025.

This distinction recognizes the team’s dedication to fostering interprofessional collaborative learning at the Interprofessional Simulation and Innovation Center (ISIC).

Dr. Pagnucco, a former assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, first received this award in 2015, which honored her commitment to interprofessional training, practice, and student development, particularly for her leadership of UNE’s Interprofessional Student Advisory Team (IPSAT).

ISP team’s efforts bring students from different professions together to learn about, from and with each other through simulations featuring standardized patients. Previous awardees include Kin Ly, Pharm.D., Ed.D., Kira Rodriguez, M.H.S., and various faculty members who facilitated UNE’s Interprofessional Team Immersion (IPTI).

A past awardee – currently interim CAIEP Director – Elizabeth Crampsey, Ed.D, M.S., OTR/L, BCPR expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you to the ISP team for your generous contributions and continuing to help advance experiential, interprofessional collaborative learning at UNE.”

ISIC Director Ashley Buckingham, MSN, RN, CHSE accepted the award on behalf of the team, saying, “I’m thrilled to work with such a collaborative team on this complex case, which address the social determinants of health. Our ‘Michael’ case is centered around a veteran living in rural Maine with limited access to healthcare and resources. How can participants work together to meet his needs? What role does each profession bring to the table?”

Congratulations to the ISP collective for their outstanding achievements and dedication to interprofessional education.
