CUR’s Chemistry Division seeks to honor exceptional mentoring and advising by higher education faculty across all subdisciplines of chemistry with Outstanding Mentorship Awards. These awards recognize transformative mentoring and advising in at least two of the four following categories:
- undergraduate students in mentor-led chemistry research projects,
- undergraduate students through the integration of undergraduate research into the academic curriculum and coursework in chemistry, and
- undergraduate students and/or faculty with demonstrated evidence of supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in chemical education and research
- undergraduate students and/or faculty by establishment of programmatic infrastructure that enhances undergraduate research
Each award will consist of a $500 cash prize to the recipient, a certificate of recognition, a one-year individual membership to CUR that will be funded by the Chemistry Division, and a letter of commendation from CUR that shall be sent to the recipient’s institution. If the awardee already possesses a CUR membership paid by the home institution, the one-year membership in CUR may be donated to another individual. In each award cycle, up to three awards will be given.
