The Maine North Atlantic Development Office (MENADO) Director Dana Eidsness led the 7th annual Maine delegation at the Arctic Circle Assembly, the largest international gathering on the Arctic. Maine businesses, academic research, and cultural institutions attended meetings and presented to an international audience on a variety of themes from digital health and blue economy models of success to North Atlantic arts collaboration and rural tourism.
The Arctic Circle Assembly is the largest annual international gathering focused on the Arctic, this year drawing 1,400 participants from 40 countries interested in the future of the region to the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center in downtown Reykjavík. Despite the massive number of attendees, due to strict vaccination and testing protocols, there were no cases of COVID-19 transmission.
