Abstract: The bone marrow niche has multiple cellular constituents with distinct functions for whole body homeostasis. Only recently has the bone marrow adipocyte taken its place as a vital component of the niche regulating both hematopoiesis and skeletal remodeling. In this talk I will highlight the role of this unique fat cell within the niche, and address some potential therapeutic implications.
