This presentation will discuss the ability of the HPV vaccine, which was approved in 2006, to induce long-term immune protection and prevent the vast majority of cancers caused by HPV infection, such as cervical cancer. The talk will also discuss how widespread uptake of the vaccine can induce herd protection, which means it reduces the prevalence in the population of the HPV types targeted by the vaccine.
