The 2020 Virtual Fall Art & Research Symposium

Welcome! We are so glad that you are interested in registering for the 2020 Fall Research Symposium. While it is going to look very different this year as we are moving to a virtual format, we are so excited to be able to still celebrate our undergrad researchers. All projects are welcome! They can be complete, previously presented, partially done, proposals or any type of art display. We hope this experience will allow you to share whatever you are working on with fellow undergrad and gain a strong “practice professional” experience that you can add to your resume.

Please feel free to email us at uneresearchexperienceclub@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

  1. Register for the symposium: need to know if you are applying for the live oral presentation/ honorable mention Due 11/6
  1. GENERAL REGISTRATION: need a 50 word abstract describing your project (your participation will be a pre-recorded video linked in the program that you submit at a later date)
  • LIVE ORAL PRESENTATION/HONORABLE MENTION SUBMISSION: need a 200-250 word abstract that will be judged based on relevance, contribution to the current literature, coherence, clarity and professionalism. It is required that the project must be explained in a way which someone from any discipline can follow, as this symposium is aimed to share research across disciplines. Please click here to see the exact rubric judges will be using: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IcE6dmt-pXNKL8_t2A_loZ3-7qI-edzma cIbwUFp27c/edit?usp=sharing

If selected, you will be asked to present your poster live at the presentation on December 5th. Winners will be notified no later than November 20th. If not selected, you are asked to still submit your project as a pre-recorded video to be a part of the symposium. Four live presentations and three to five honorable mentions will be selected.

Please note that you can only register for the symposium once and you must know at that time if you are planning to apply for a live oral presentation/honorable mention.

Registration can be found here: https://forms.gle/Jskk6VvSrY21xbbn8

  • Video Submission: Due 11/23 Please note that late videos will not be accepted.
  1. POSTER VIDEO PRESENTATION: If you are presenting a research project, we ask that you submit a 3-6 minute video in the format of a YouTube link. The video must be professional and not exceed the time limit. Your poster is required

to be in the video, therefore it is recommended to use zoom to create the video. The link for submission, submission instructions and examples can be found here:

  • ART VIDEO DISPLAY: Art submissions are always encouraged. For the Art Video Display, you can be creative on what your video looks like and what it contains but as with the research presentations it must be professional and must be within the 3-6 minute time limit. Please see the submission instructions above for more information. You do not need to follow the same poster/video format that is expected of research presentations.

Videos must follow expectations found here:

This presentation will have a welcome by event leaders, the four live oral presentations, & acknowledgement of the honorable mentions. We ask that as many people attend so we can celebrate all of our researchers.

For all other poster presentations, we will be sending out a program to all registered students/”attendees”. This program will contain the general registration posters’ descriptions and link to their presentation video.
