Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR)

The National Institutes of Health has developed the Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR) course,  a free online course which trains registrants on how to conduct clinical research effectively and safely. Graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, medical, dental, pharmacy, and nursing students and other health professionals are encouraged to enroll. The 2020-2021 course syllabus can be found here.

IPPCR Course Details

  • The course is free, self-paced and entirely online through our new IPPCR website: https://ocr.od.nih.gov/courses/ippcr.html
  • Registration is now open and course materials are available through August 1, 2021. A certificate of completion is awarded to participants who achieve a 75% or higher score on the final exam.
  • The course focuses on the spectrum of clinical research and the research process by highlighting biostatistical and epidemiological methods, study design, protocol development, quality assurance, ethical and legal issues, and much more.
