Kiernan Gordon was appointed as Chair of the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ (NABC) Research Committee.

UNE Assistant Professor of Sport Management and Recreation and long-time college basketball coach, Dr. Kiernan Gordon, was recently appointed as Chair of the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ (NABC) Research Committee at its annual convention. The NABC Convention, which occurs at the same site and time as the NCAA Men’s Division I Final Four each year, took place in New Orleans, Louisiana from March 31st through April 4th.

Gordon replaces outgoing Chair, Dr. Jerry Krause, who was unanimously voted as Chair Emeritus during the 2022 meeting. An internationally-renowned clinician, basketball educator, and member of multiple halls of fame, Krause has authored more books about the game of basketball than anyone ever.

“I’m excited to serve my Research Committee colleagues and the NABC’s broader membership”, Gordon said, adding, “while I certainly cannot replace Jerry Krause, I look forward to following his incredible example of stewardship and integrity for the game that we all love.” He continued, “I am particularly excited to work with the NABC’s new executive leadership, led by Craig Robinson, who has a compelling vision for the NABC, to develop ways to further support that vision and serve the organization’s membership.”

Perhaps the most notable activity of the Research Committee is its research grant program, which has historically provided funding upwards of $1,000 for projects that benefit NABC member coaches. Gordon becomes the fourth Chair in the NABC Research Committee’s decades-long history. Click the following link for more information about the NABC: https://nabc.com/
