Neuroscience Research at UNE: Can We Reduce the Effects of Neonatal Trauma on the Brain?

Meet Professor Michael Burman, Ph.D., and student Skylar McComas (Neuroscience ’22) as they seek to understand the effects of neonatal trauma on the brain. The two are working within Burman Collaborative at The University of New England, a team of faculty, staff and students dedicated to answering important questions about neonatal trauma.

Students at UNE have opportunities to work on high-level research that promises to impact the lives of others. With an “R2” Carnegie classification (“High Research Activity”), UNE promotes research in a wide range of fascinating areas in its nine centers and institutes, including the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence for the Study of Pain and Sensory Function (COBRE), and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences.
