  • On Research blog, there are new categories for student research, new publications and events, diversity etc. Please keep sharing your stories, publications and incoming events for posting.
  • As you know, The University of New England has been selected to join the Maine IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE), a collaborative network of state educational and research institutions that strives to strengthen Maine’s capacity to conduct cutting-edge biomedical research.
  • The Office of Research and Scholarship will host a presentation on the Maine INBRE grant and new opportunities for UNE Faculty and Students. The virtual presentation, in collaboration with Maine INBRE, will feature James A. Coffman, Ph.D., Principal Investigator, in charge of the Developmental Research Project Program and Dustin Updike, Ph.D., Program Coordinator, The Research Resources Core (RRC) Grants. The zoom session for INBRE presentation will be held at the next RC at 9/24 10:00 AM. Please share it with your areas.

Human Subjects Research – updates:

  • New IRB Policies and Procedures approved and announced. It hasn’t been updated since 2010. Congratulations Brian Lynn!
  • IRB’s guidelines for human subject research: COVID-specific recommendations for resumption of in person human subjects research have been drafted by the IRB with input from the RC. APRS Houseknecht and Provost Hamilton have reviewed these recommendations. They are currently under review by the President and Legal Counsel.

CECE Presentation:

  • CECE transformed from a faculty- generated collaborative to a COE identified CECE as a hub for interprofessional education, scholarship, and research across UNE’s colleges, Centers, and Programs.
  • CECE’s mission is continuing inter-institutional and cross-institutional collaborations through curriculum, student and faculty research / scholarships and community partnerships. The slide deck is available for review in the Teams folder.
