Research Infrastructure Fund (RIF) Call for UNE faculty | Applications are due by 12/8/2023

This notice is to ensure that UNE faculty are aware of an internal funding opportunity, using dollars generated by external grants’ facilities and administrative (F&A) dollars to the University to cover indirect costs (IDC). For several years UNE has employed a strategy to use these funds to enhance research and scholarship activities. See the UNE F&A Distribution Policy for details.

UNE’s Office of Research and Scholarship manages the portion known as the Research Infrastructure Fund (RIF). This funding opportunity announcement is for requests for non-urgent faculty research and scholarship resources, such as research equipment, bridge funding (excludes faculty salary bridge), and conference support.  In the past, these requests have been handled on an ongoing rolling basis, making it difficult to budget and to judge the relative merits of requests.  Therefore we have moved to an annual call for applications process.

Successful requests for RIF funds will be clearly written, describe in detail how the funds will be used, identify any other available institutional resources to help support the request, and, most importantly, indicate how an award of funds will develop research/scholarship capacity at UNE and/or improve the probability of future external awards to UNE. Any request to utilize RIF funds as a hard dollar match or otherwise on a grant application shall also be made using this method and shall be documented on the UNE pink sheet along with any other match commitments. Requests should not be turned in until signed by department chair, dean, and center director (as indicated).

Requests should be submitted to ORS@une.edu
