Next Steps for New Nor’easters: What to Do Once You’ve Been Admitted

Chances are if you’re reading this post, you have been accepted to the University of New England. Congrats! You are well on your way to becoming a Nor’easter, and we couldn’t be more excited. Go ahead — bask in the accomplishment, do that happy dance, and celebrate all your hard work. You deserve it, New Nor’easter. When you’re ready, here are a few next steps to take and opportunities to consider as you get ready to join us on campus.

1. Let’s make it official! Submit your enrollment deposit.

Your enrollment deposit guarantees your place in the incoming class.  Your enrollment deposit includes a $300 tuition deposit and $200 campus housing deposit. Once your enrollment deposit is received, you are eligible to complete the Housing and Dining contract to select roommate and residence hall preferences. Heads up: After May 1, 2022, enrollment deposits are accepted on a space-available basis and all deposits become non-refundable.

2. Apply for financial aid.

File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) to be considered for all types of aid, including grants and scholarships, federal loans and federal work study. UNE’s school code is 002050.

3. Join the Class of 2026 Facebook group.

We know, we know. Facebook? Really? Hear us out. We promise no spammy posts from admissions, just a private group for you, your future classmates, and a few current UNE students.  Join to connect with fellow incoming students, find your future roommate(s), and find out the latest on housing, classes, student life, clubs, and new student orientation.

4. Register for New Nor’easters Accepted Students Day.

March 5, 2022 — Portland Campus
Dental Hygiene, Nursing, and Pre-Pharmacy Majors

At our Portland Campus Accepted Students Day, you will connect with professors and current students, tour your program’s labs and classrooms, and have the opportunity to meet with financial aid and student life teams, including staff and students ready to answer any housing, orientation, and support questions you may have.

April 2 and April 9, 2022 — Biddeford Campus
All Majors

Our most exciting program of the year for all accepted students! Whether you know for sure you’re a future Nor’easter or you’re still considering your options, our Biddeford Campus Accepted Students Days offer a unique way to explore campus and help with your college decision. The events include classroom experiences, an academic and campus life fair, breakout sessions for financial aid and student services, lunch, student-only tours, and fun activities to get to know your future classmates. You’ll take home some UNE swag, high five our mascot Stormin’ Norman, and maybe even meet your future roommate!

5. Sign up for Orientation.

Your first can’t-miss event! (Seriously, you can’t miss it. Orientation is mandatory for all new undergrad students.) Make connections and get the important info you’ll need to get started at UNE. Orientation programs give you a sense of place while having a ton of fun with your future classmates. Orientation registration opens when your enrollment deposit is received. For more info and to register, visit une.edu/newnoreasters.

6. Complete your Housing and Dining application.

Once your enrollment deposit is received, you are eligible to complete the Housing and Dining application to select roommate and residence hall preferences as well as a meal plan. Housing assignments are made in priority order based on the date we receive your application. View une.edu/newnoreasters to get started.

7. Submit your health forms.

Visit une.edu/studenthealth to complete and submit the following: Immunization Form, Physical Form, and proof of Health Insurance.

8. Finalize your academic file.

First-year students: After you graduate, have an official copy of your final high school transcript sent to UNE. Also send Advanced Placement scores as well as official transcripts for any college classes you have taken for credit.

Transfer students: Submit your official transcripts from each college you have attended. If you have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at the college level, please also submit an official secondary school transcript.

Send your final transcripts to: UNE Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, ME 04005

All of us here at UNE are so excited to welcome you and our incoming class this fall! As always, please reach out to our Undergraduate Admissions team or your admissions counselor with any questions. We look forward to your arrival to campus!
