Like the rest of our resilient UNE community, our admissions team has adapted to working from home. They’ve stayed connected with both accepted and prospective students by hosting virtual events, attending online college fairs, going live on social media and holding Zoom meetings. While they are grateful for the technology that allows this connection to continue, they look forward to seeing you in-person.
In the meantime, let’s learn more about how our staff is making the most of their time working from home. Here’s what a few of them had to say:
1. What’s keeping you entertained right now?
Pete: Playing with my daughter, taking long walks and watching old episodes of Scrubs.
Alyssa: I’m currently working through old episodes of Survivor starting with Season 1. I’ve also started some home improvement projects that I’ve been putting off for far too long.
Joshua: I spend my days connecting with family and friends. I also enjoy playing and making music with an assortment of instruments.
Molly: My six-month-old son is keeping my VERY busy! We enjoy getting out at least once a day for a walk and some fresh air. I’m also finally learning to cook.
Trevor: Virtual game nights with friends and family on the weekends is keeping me positive. I also enjoy taking drives to the ocean.
2. What’s your best #WorkFromHome tip?
Pete: Get up and take a shower— it helps me get my mind right for work.
Alyssa: Listening to any music I want, at any level I want!
Joshua: Simply, embrace it. Of course working from home came with some adjustments from my typical routine, however, it brings with it opportunities to discover new methods for old tasks.
Molly: Make a list for what you need to do for the day. This helps keep me on track so I don’t forget what I need to do when I’m interrupted by my little one!
Trevor: Get in a routine. I also make sure to take breaks from work when I’m feeling stressed.
3: What’s your go-to app or website keeping you productive or happy?
Pete: Stitcher— love my podcasts.
Alyssa: House Party is helping me stay connected to friends and family. The games could keep me entertained for hours!
Joshua: I use Spotify, Tidal and Serato every day to access music and create new music.
Molly: My new favorite thing lately is Melissa Wood Health. She has different workouts of varying lengths from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Usually 8 minutes is all I can squeeze in!
Trevor: I think Spotify is keeping me sane. Listening to music helps motivate me to do various tasks throughout the day.
4. What’s your favorite #WorkFromHome treat?
Pete: Peanut butter cups and homemade bread.
Alyssa: Oreos. Always Oreos.
Joshua: Any homemade meal! I have enjoyed using my time to make new recipes.
Molly: I have been making sweet potato tacos once (or twice, shhh) a week and they’re life-changing.
Trevor: My favorite treat is a cheese board filled with fruits, jams and, of course, cheese!
5. What is your favorite memory from your fall travel season?
Pete: I would say my favorite memory is just simply having the ability to see and talk with students. I miss the face-to-face conversations.
Alyssa: The views are probably my favorite memory from travel. I’m spoiled with my territory because I get to be in New Hampshire at prime leaf-peeping time.
Joshua: I genuinely enjoy the opportunity to have individualized conversations with students to learn about their passions and to provide a bit of insight on their transition to college.
Molly: I love my high school visits. It’s great to have small group conversations with students to really get to know them and what they’re looking for in a school.
Trevor: I think my favorite memory was having conversations with students at high school visits.
